Hillcrest Housing HQ, Dundee

Very impressive new landmark building for Technology Park Dundee.

Hillcrest Housing Association have just moved into their new Head Office Building at Explorer Road Dundee.

This was a fairly major signage design and manufacture job for us. Working with the client, main contractors, Brown Construction and the architects, Nicoll Russell Studios & Gerry Farquharson we produced a number of visuals and designs to reach final agreement on specification. There is a mix of brushed stainless steel work, acrylic and aluminium signage throughout the building. The offices are all glass partitions and these are screened by clever use of “frosted” type graphics material.

The building itself has gained an extremely high rating for energy efficiency and is reported to be the “greenest” building in Dundee. The exterior stone work to building uses a method of “caged” stones, I think it was invented by a Frenchman primarily to be used for retaining wall purposes. The stone is local, coming from quarries in Angus. The circular feature wall of the building is particularly imposing with the stainless steel logo in full view.
